An enjoyable and picturesque walk
from the Citadel House Hotel will lead you along the sea front,
past the
Royal Citadel and via the Barbican to the superb
National
Marine Aquarium.
Our famous, very popular and historic Barbican area with its cobbled
streets, restaurants, alfresco cafes and antique shops is just along
the road.

On The Hoe you will find this magnificent

background.

Smeaton's Tower lighthouse, which overlooks
Plymouth Sound, was originally built between 1756-1759 on
Eddystone Reef, 14 miles south of its present position. It was
later dismantled and re-erected on Plymouth Hoe to replace a
navigation obelisk that stood at the same location.
